Frequently Asked Questions

Billing

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major debit and credit cards, which are processed securely by Stripe. We also accept Direct Debit payments, processed by GoCardless.

As a last resort, and at our sole discretion, PayPal may be offered as an alternative payment method.

We do not accept standing orders or direct bank transfers.

When will I be billed?

To ensure uninterrupted service, we use pro-rata billing for all services. This means you’ll only be charged for the portion of the month you use the service. Domain names are an exception, as they are billed 30 days before their expiry date to guarantee renewal.

How quickly will my purchase be processed?

Once you’ve signed up for a new service, it will typically be created within a few minutes. You will receive a welcome email containing your login details once the setup is complete.

For domain name purchases, please note that there may be a slight delay while we verify the purchase to prevent fraud. This verification process ensures your domain is registered securely and accurately.

How do I change my payment card details?

When you log in to your client account, click on Billing in the top navigation, then select Payment Methods from the dropdown menu. From there, you can update your payment card details.

How does billing work with VPS hosting?

Your VPS hosting service will renew automatically on the same day each month. To ensure your account does not go into arrears, your payment method will be pre-charged 7 days prior to the renewal date. This is a safety mechanism, as VPS servers cannot be held past their renewal date without payment.

If the pre-charge fails and payment is not received, your VPS hosting service will be automatically deleted, and all associated data will be permanently removed. Website Helper accepts no liability for any data loss resulting from such deletion.

It is your responsibility to maintain a valid and active payment method on file at all times. You must also ensure your contact information is up to date, including email address, phone number, and billing details, to receive any notifications regarding billing or service issues.

Please note that all VPS payments are non-refundable, regardless of circumstances.

What is your refund policy?

Please refer to our Refund Policy for information on refunds.

Maintenance Services

What is not included in the service?

Anything that would be reasonably considered outside the scope of “regular maintenance” is not covered by our service. This includes web design, content creation, content updates, layout changes, and custom development. These requirements can, however, be requested on an ad-hoc basis and will be billed by the hour.

How often will my website be updated?

We monitor for new software updates daily. However, depending on the nature of the update, we may sometimes limit updates to once per week. All major updates are thoroughly tested before being applied to websites to ensure stability and security.

How often will my website be backed up?

We automatically back up your site twice daily, with one backup stored internally and one externally, every day. You can also request on-demand backups at any time.

Web Hosting

Does web hosting include email?

Yes, all hosting plans include email.

What is the difference between economy and cloud hosting?

For small websites with minimal traffic and resource needs, economy hosting offers a cost-effective solution. Cloud hosting, on the other hand, caters to more demanding websites with significant traffic and resource requirements.

Domain Names

How do I transfer my domain name to Website Helper?

If you would like to transfer your domain to Website Helper, please contact us for further details.

Will I receive domain renewal reminders?

Yes, we will notify you 30 days before the renewal date, giving you enough time to decide if you would like to renew your domain or let it expire.

What happens when domains are left to expire?

When a domain has expired, after a certain period of time, it will become available to the public for registration again.

Do I need a domain privacy service?

Domain privacy services are used to hide your contact information from public WHOIS searches. For .uk domains, your details are already protected by default, so additional privacy services are generally unnecessary. Please note that other domain extensions, such as .com, may offer privacy protection at an additional cost.
